The YMCA Computer Training Centre has come a long way since it's inception about four years ago. Thanks must be given to The British Volunteer organisation (VSO) who provided initial technical staff and five computers to start the centre.
The main purpose of the centre was to train up and coming youth in the Vocational Training Centre for simple Word - Processing skills.
However with the Gambia fast becoming growing in the IT world come courses where offered on hand both on a full - time basis and part - time basis for employees of various organisation.
At present The YMCA Computer training Centre has become a leader in The Gambia in offering Computer Literacy classes, consultancy and customised IT Training and A DIGITAL STUDIO Please check out the Digital Studio link to see what the Digital Studio has to Offer. A Total of over 1000 students both Full Time, Part - Time and On - Site undergo various kinds of training directly or indirectly yearly at the centre.
The Computer Training Centre is equipped with the latest training resources from Hardware to Software. Apart From local acquired Diploma's and customised certificate courses, the centre runs courses certificates and diploma courses up to an advanced level in IT and ICT and now Business and Office Administration courses are on the offer from September 2007. Courses are moderated by Cambridge International Examination and City and Guilds examination body both based in the United Kingdom.
